About the event
In celebration of International Bat Night, follow our guide on this exciting guided walk, learning to identify the many species of bats at Woodwalton Fen National Nature Reserve. Learn about the habitats they live in and their varied lifestyles. Use a bat detector to identify species and learn more about these elusive mammals.
Attendees should park at the far end of Chapel Road on the field-side bank of the Great Raveley Drain and meet at the Woodwalton Fen Nature Reserve entrance bridge. The What3Words location for parking is https://what3words.com/represent.teaching.tradition.
The nearest train station is Huntingdon, 11 miles away.
Unfortunately, there are no local bus services running at this time.
Please see the website for full event terms and conditions.
Cost: £12 Wildlife Trust BCN Members, £18 Non-Members, plus Eventbrite service fees.
For more information please contact the Great Fen Team on: 01487 815524, info@greatfen.org.uk.
What to bring
Please note, toilets will not be accessible for this event. Please also be aware that there are a large number of ticks and other biting insects at Woodwalton Fen, so long trousers tucked into socks and closed-toe footwear are needed. An insect repellent is also useful. The ground can be wet and slippery and the weather may be cold at night, so please choose clothing and footwear accordingly. Please bring a torch, but not a wind-up style.
Refreshments:
It is a good idea to bring with you a re-useable bottle pre-filled with water as we are sorry we will not be able to provide drinks here. Please be aware all litter/recycling will need to be taken home with you.
