Local families and volunteers joined staff from the Coneygear Centre this week to plant hundreds of snowdrops in the Coneygear Community Garden.
The activity brought people of all ages together for a relaxing and enjoyable morning of planting, conversation and community spirit. The newly planted snowdrops will add early spring colour to the garden for years to come, becoming a valued feature of the area as they spread and grow each season. After the planting, everyone was invited into the Warm Spaces Café, where hot drinks, sausage rolls and slices of cake were shared.
Kim O'Brien, Communities Officer, for Huntingdon Town Council said "We had such a wonder time planting snowdrops in the Community Garden. Seeing so many residents join in, smiling and supporting each other, really brightened the day and even seemed to keep the forecast rain away. It was lovely to come together afterwards in our Warm Spaces Café for a hot drink, a sausage roll and a slice of cake. The garden already looks beautiful, and it will only get better in the years ahead thanks to the amazing contribution of our community.”
The snowdrop planting session is part of the Coneygear Centre’s ongoing commitment to offering accessible, low‑cost activities that bring people together, support wellbeing and improve local green spaces.
