About Ouse Valley Radio

Ouse Valley Radio is a local, not-for-profit community radio station serving Huntingdon and the surrounding area. We are run entirely by volunteers, with no paid directors, and exist to inform, entertain, and support our local community.

Alongside grants and memberships, advertising and sponsorship from local businesses play a vital role in keeping the station on air.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated sales professional to generate advertising and sponsorship income for the station. This is a commission-only, self-employed role, ideal for someone confident in sales who values flexibility and community impact.

You will work independently from home, identifying and approaching potential advertisers and sponsors, building relationships with local businesses, and closing deals that support both the station and our clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and approach potential advertisers and sponsors (primarily local businesses)
• Promote radio advertising and sponsorship opportunities across Ouse Valley Radio
• Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients
• Negotiate and close advertising and sponsorship agreements
• Accurately record sales activity and liaise with station volunteers where required
• Represent Ouse Valley Radio professionally and in line with its community values

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

• Proven experience in sales (advertising, media, sponsorship, or B2B preferred)
• Confident communicator with strong negotiation skills
• Self-motivated and able to work independently
• Comfortable working on a commission-only basis
• Reliable, professional, and well-organised

Desirable:

• Knowledge of radio advertising or local media
• Existing contacts within the local business community
• Understanding of community or not-for-profit organisations
