St John Ambulance is England’s first aid charity. The SJA story goes back to 11th century Jerusalem, where the first Knights of St John set up a hospital to care for sick pilgrims. Since then, the organisation has evolved into a modern and dynamic charity underpinned by our vital work. St John as we are today have been providing vital first aid and first aid training for over 140 years. St John Ambulance is the charity that steps forward in the moments that matter.
In 2010, The Princess Royal visited the Huntingdon HQ to officially open the new county purpose built offices replacing the outgrown building in Cambridge. The Huntingdon location is great for people to travel to for first aid training.
In 2024 SJAJ...
- kept the public safe at over 10,000 events across the country
- recruited 27,000 Young Responders to help keep our streets safe
- reached over 356,000 members of the public during our flagship "Save a Life September" campaign.
