Spaldwick Common Ground — a new community-led charity with a simple but powerful vision: to breathe new life into Spaldwick’s historic church, transforming it into a space that brings people together, inspires creativity, and supports wellbeing for generations to come.
At its heart, Spaldwick Common Ground is about connection — creating a place where everyone feels they belong. The charity’s trustees and volunteers are working to reimagine the village church not just as a place of heritage, but as a living hub for community life. Once restored and re-equipped, the building will host everything from arts and music events to games nights, workshops, social groups, and wellbeing activities — all shaped around what local people have said they want and need most.
This isn’t just a building project; it’s a community movement. The team hopes to raise up to £500,000 to fund essential building works — including improved heating, lighting, accessibility and facilities — to make the space warm, welcoming and usable all year round. Every donation, event ticket, and offer of time or expertise helps bring that vision a little closer.
Already, the charity has started to make an impact through a growing programme of local events that have drawn people together and sparked new friendships. With continued community support, Spaldwick Common Ground aims to turn a much-loved village landmark into a vibrant centre of life and opportunity for all.
