Our Charity of the Month for March is Caring Together

Did you know three in five people will become an unpaid carer during their lifetime? You may be an unpaid carer and not even realise.

An unpaid carer is anyone looking after a family member or friend who has long-term illness or disability. If you are an unpaid carer, Caring Together Charity is here to help you.

We are a St Ives-based charity and provide support to unpaid carers of all ages across Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and Norfolk. In Huntingdonshire alone, we help more than 3,000 unpaid carers.

Despite how common caring is, many unpaid carers feel they are on their own. Many are exhausted from looking after their husband, wife, partner, parent, sibling or child for hours every day, sometimes in addition to trying to hold down a job, bring up children, or go to school.

Our vision is for a world with no unpaid carer in crisis, isolated or struggling alone.

We provide a wide range of services, including expert advice, opportunities to meet other carers, breaks from caring, emergency planning, and counselling, as well as professional homecare to relieve carers from their vital role.

In Huntingdon, we run a carers’ hub at the Coneygear Centre on the second Tuesday of every month. This gives unpaid carers the chance to meet, make new friends and share stories and advice over a cuppa.

There is also usually a guest speaker or relaxing activities on offer, while carers also have the chance to talk to one of our professional advisors for support and advice on issues affecting them.
