Groundwork East – Changing places and lives
Groundwork East is an environmental charity working across the East of England to support people, places and communities to thrive. Part of the national Groundwork federation, we bring over 40 years’ experience delivering practical projects that improve lives while tackling the climate and nature crises.
Our work is rooted in communities. We create opportunities for people of all ages to connect with nature, build confidence and develop skills. Family-focused programmes like Wellies in the Woods give young children the chance to explore the outdoors, supporting early development and wellbeing, while initiatives such as Veg Fest bring school children together around food growing, sustainability and healthy living.
We also support people into greener futures through programmes like Green Recovery, helping those facing barriers to employment gain new skills, confidence and pathways into work. Alongside this, our Green Doctor service provides free, impartial advice to households struggling with energy costs, helping people stay warm, reduce bills and access wider support when they need it most.
Across all our work, we partner with local authorities, health services, schools and community organisations to deliver projects that make a lasting difference. Whether it’s transforming green spaces, supporting families, or helping people take their first steps into employment, our focus is always on practical action and real impact.
Our aim is simple - to create greener, fairer places where people feel healthier, more connected and better able to shape their future.
